Heartburn Home Treatment

Heartburn Treatment Only A Swallow Away

After you have finished a big meal or one loaded with hot spices, there suddenly appears that uncomfortable burning sensation that begins in the pit of your stomach and gradually rises into your throat. The first thing on you mind is finding something to offer heartburn treatment that provides immediate relief. While there are many good over the counter products that can put out this fire, if it is a continual problem, the need for a more dedicated heartburn treatment may be necessary.

There are products for heartburn treatment that can last for several days and through many episodes, but before taking them it may be wise to check with a doctor to find out what is causing your heartburn. In some cases, a heartburn treatment can hide serious health problems and in rare cases can actually make them worse. To fully understand the way heartburn treatment medications work, you will need to understand what causes heartburn.

Most times, heartburn is the feeling you get when stomach acid is pushed back into your esophagus. The tender lining in the esophagus offers no protection to the appearance of stomach acid like the stomach can do, and when the acid hits this lining, it cause a severely painful burning sensation. There are numerous causes, but when it hits why is no longer the immediate concern. The first thought is to find a heartburn treatment to put out the fire.

Heartburn Treatment May Cause Other Problems

One of the most effective over the counter heartburn treatment methods available is by use of a proton pump inhibitor. This medication slows the amount of stomach acid being secreted and allows a person to eat just about anything without experiencing acid reflux symptoms. However, since the stomach needs acid to help in the digestion of food, prolonged use of a proton pump inhibitor can cause digestive problems, and not allow the foods nutrients to be properly absorbed by the body.

In most cases, the use of these proton pump inhibitors should not be for more than three weeks at a time, with another three to four weeks before starting them again, to avoid any digestive problems. During the interlude, many over the counter heartburn treatment remedies that do not cut down on the body’ s acid production can be used. Whether you choose a liquid of pill form of heartburn treatment, always check with you doctor if the heartburn lasts more than a few days a week as it could be a sign of other medical problems.

Indigestion Causes

What Can Cause Indigestion and Heartburn?

Stress and Indigestion

We live in a busy society and it does not seem that it will ever slow down. This pace has its positives and negatives. In terms of the positive aspects, a busy person on the go will generally get more results than a person who is seemingly lethargic. A person with a lot of get up and go can get a great deal more done in the workforce and this can lead to career advancement, increased salary and prestige and, additionally, the potential of getting a bad case of indigestion can result as well. No, that last part was not a joke! When a person lives a busy and hectic lifestyle the potential for acquiring a really bad bout of indigestion has a high potential of occurrence.

Stress and Heartburn and its Effect on the Human Body

While a poor diet is often a factor of inducing indigestion (among a host of other problems), stress and aggravation can also yield the condition as well. Work, of course, can be a significant source of stress and aggravation and this includes such jobs that may be overall rewarding. Now, that may seem like an obtuse concept as a job or profession that one enjoys should not be a source of aggravation as the job is overall enjoyable. In order to understand how such a job creates stress induced indigestion, the answer may lie in the up and down nature of the job. That is, there may be periods of difficulty, overwork, long hours, etc. In such a situation, even if the end result of the hard work and long hours is a positive ending, if the journey to arrive at the end result is discomforting there may be physical ailments that ultimately result.

Sometimes Slowing Down is the Best Cure

While it is understandable that the harder one works, the greater the rewards the person will receive what also has to be understood is the fact that overwork can have a negligible effect on the body. Sadly, many people ignore the warning signs of overwork and this gets them into a great deal of trouble. Case in point, there are a huge volume of avoidable instances of the onset of indigestion that derive from a frantic work pace. The way to deal with this is obvious: a person who is overworked needs to take specific steps to reduce the volume of the workload. Granted, this is easier said than done, but if one’ s health is deteriorating due to overwork, then whatever benefits derived from the work experience will be not worth it in the end.

Can Changing a Diet to Stop Heartburn?

Heartburn is hardly what anyone will call an enjoyable experience. The pain and discomfort associated with acid reflux prompts people to immediately look for a way to stop heartburn. Sadly, this is usually done by reaching for medicine without ever once stopping to think about dealing with the underlying causes of the heartburn. Often, if one treats the cause then the heartburn cure will follow.

Is a Good Diet the Way to Stop Heartburn?

Diet plays a vital role in the ability to stop heartburn, yet many people do not make the proper amends in their diet to eliminate the problem of heartburn. One of the worst things an individual can do is continue to eat a horribly flawed diet and then attempt to cure the problem by dumping a significant amount of OTC heartburn medication of antacids into the body.

This is a terrible idea for a number of reasons. Firstly, it does not stop the root cause of the heartburn despite the fact that the ability to adjust the problem is within the reach of the afflicted. Secondly, it can lead to overuse and abuse of heartburn medication that can come with a number of unwanted side effects. Thirdly, the perpetual eating of a bad diet can lead to health problems far worse than a mild (or even severe) form of heartburn.

Becoming lazily addicted to a bad diet will bring about such a severe volume of health problems that the need to stop heartburn may become the least of your worries. As such, if a case of heartburn starts to manifest itself then take this as a warning sign that the worst may be yet to come if a proper modification of one’ s diet is not undertaken.

There are a number of bad diets that will contribute to heartburn, but often these bad diets fall into two categories: eating unhealthy food and eating too fast. If one opts to eat a lot of greasy, fried fast food the body is ultimately going to reject what is being ingested and a number of gastrointestinal problems will result. Eating too fast will yield the same problem and needs to be curtailed as well. Often, the best way to stop heartburn is to impose a little bit of discipline into one’ s dietary habits. If not, seriously negative consequences may be the result. It is as simple as that if you wish to stop heartburn.

Acidgone – All Natural Treatment for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, GERD, Acid Reflux, Heartburn (60 servings)
publisher: Essential Life Supplements
ASIN: B002NM3NZC
EAN: 0836020000047
sales rank: 146393
price: $49.95 (new)

Acidgone is an all natural powder made from a proprietary combination of water-soluble fibers, detox herbs, and nutrients. Unlike anti-reflux drugs, which inhibit the secretion of gastric acid leading to indigestion, Acidgone does not interfere with the digestive process.

Acidgone acts like a soothing gel-like lubricant that coats the stomach lining and insulates it from the harsh effects of stomach acid. When mixed with water alone, Acidgone has the ideal pH of 7. This makes it effective in absorbing and neutralizing secreted stomach acid. Most prescription medications actually block the secretion of acid, which interferes with the body’s natural digestive process.

If you suffer from heartburn, acid-reflux, or GERD, consider an all natural remedy.

What our customers say:

“I was diagnosed with GERD. After trying prescription drugs – Nexium, Prilosec, over-the-counter antacids, etc, my symptoms remained the same and even got slightly worse. I found Acidgone on the Internet. I ordered it without any expectations. After a month, my acid reflux symptoms have decreased greatly. I feel much better.”
-Tom B, Visalia, CA

“I had chronic GERD and gas problems for years. I have tried many different medications prescribed by my doctor, but none of the prescription drugs cured my GERD and gas problem. My doctor told me he had exhausted everything he knew for my GERD problem. My daughter found Acidgone on the Internet. I started taking Acidgone in Sept. 2005. My doctor gave me the OK to take these products since he did not have any alternative for us. We both have been very happy with the results we are getting from these products. I no longer have GERD or gas. My doctor told me to continue with the Acidgone as long as it is helping me. I am currently taking it once a day.”

What is the Relationship between Heartburn and Paxil?

Paxil (Paroxetine)
A pharmacist explains how Paxil works, why doctors prescribe this antidepressant, and common side effects of the drug.Watch More Health Videos at Health Guru: www.healthguru.com

Paroxatine, which is sold under the commercial name of Paxil, is one of the many medications that are prescribed by doctors for treating depression. It has also been used as an effective treatment for a variety of anxiety disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxieties and panic attacks. Paxil is a member of a family of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, which is one of the newer types of antidepressants to come on the market today.

It is thought that these medications work by suppressing the reabsorption of serotonin into the nerve cells of the brain, leaving more of this substance available in the brain. This allows the neurotransmitters to fire more effectively, and can improve mood as a result. While it sounds like a complicated process, the bottom line is that Paxil and other medications like it can be an effective way to treat depression and other types of anxiety disorder. However, if you are suffering from depression and frequent bouts of heartburn, you may find a link between Paxil and heartburn remedies that you might currently be taking.

Paxil and Heartburn Medications

Like any medication, Paxil can interact with other drugs, leaving one or the other ineffective or even causing a dangerous combination within your body. One of the medications that have been known to interact with Paxil is the heartburn medicine known as antacids. This is particularly true if you are taking the medication known as Paxil PR. If your doctor wants to prescribe Paxil for you, and you currently take antacids regularly as a treatment for heartburn symptoms, you should let your doctor know about this potential drug interaction issue. He can either prescribe a different antidepressant or offer alternative in heartburn treatment that might be safer.

You can also avoid the interaction between Paxil and heartburn remedies by treating your heartburn the natural way. This might include avoiding the foods that you know will cause your heartburn, like citrus fruits, tomatoes, or foods high in fat content. It is also a good idea to avoid smoking and alcohol consumption, since both of these substances can contribute to the incidence of heartburn as well. Finally, avoid large meals and never lie down right after eating. Plan your last meal of the day at least two to three hours before bedtime to ensure that the act of lying down doesn t spur your heartburn symptoms to begin. It is possible that with a few lifestyle changes you can say goodbye to the worry about Paxil and heartburn remedies interacting with one another once and for all.

Can Prilosec Cure Your Heartburn?

Ongoing Review of Safety Data for Prilosec and Nexium
FDA is continuing to review new safety data for the proton pump inhibitors Prilosec (omeprazole) and Nexium (esomeprazole), which are used to treat severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). These data came from two small long-term clinical studies where patients with severe GERD were assigned to be treated with Prilosec or Nexium or to receive surgery. The results raised concerns that long-term use of Prilosec or Nexium may have increased the risk of heart attacks, heart failure, and heart-related sudden death in patients on drug therapy compared to those who received surgery. After reviewing these studies, along with other information submitted by the company, FDA´s preliminary conclusion is that taken together, these data do not suggest an increased risk of heart problems for patients treated with Prilosec or Nexium. Healthcare providers should not change their prescribing practices and patients should not change their use of these products at this time. The development of Prilosec for heartburn has made a significant difference in the lives of those who suffer from this condition. Prilosec for heartburn is one of the best drugs available to alleviate the burning pain of heartburn which is also called acid indigestion. The science of Prilosec for heartburn is different from the science used in previous medications. Prilosec for heartburn works by cutting off the acid produced in the stomach that moves into the esophagus causing the painful condition. Prilosec for heartburn works on a continual basis throughout the course of the day and night.

Although Prilosec was first available only with a prescription from a doctor, this wonderful drug is now available over-the-counter. Prilosec for heartburn is a proton pump inhibitor which means in normal language that it reduces the production of gastric acid. The acid that is produced in the stomach to help in the digestion of food is the culprit that moves into the esophagus to produce the uncomfortable symptoms of heartburn. It was developed to bring relief to people that have heartburn two or more days during the week. This drug therapy is designed to begin with a fourteen day course of this medication.

Prilosec For Heartburn Controls The Acid That Causes Pain

Prilosec works by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach. This is an effective way for keeping this acid out of the esophagus. Prilosec is needed because as people age a muscle between the stomach and the esophagus weakens. The acid in the stomach is very strong and that is why the stomach is lined with very strong material to keep the stomach safe from this acid. The esophagus does not have this same lining to protect it. The heartburn often occurs when lying down at night and after a large meal.

There are several factors that could affect the onset of heartburn. Alcohol consumption can be the cause, and spicy meals could also trigger an attack of heartburn. Some people eat too much at a meal and heartburn occurs after this type of meal. The pressures of daily life could also produce the conditions for heartburn. People who live a hectic life often do other things that produce heartburn. They eat from fast food outlets and forget to have the fruits and vegetables that are good for their health. Prilosec for heartburn can help relieve the symptoms in spite of the cause. Millions of people around the world suffer from heartburn, and Prilosec has been a welcome relief for these people.

Very few young people suffer from heartburn, but millions of older people around the world suffer from this condition. The best way to treat heartburn is to avoid it altogether. Young people may treat heartburn by never developing this condition in the first place. Diet and exercise may help young people avoid heartburn completely. Older people who have heartburn can probably improve their health and rid their lives of heartburn through good diet and moderate exercise. Many people first experience heartburn when they are older and eat a spicy meal at a Mexican or Indian restaurant.

These people can treat heartburn at least temporarily by taking antacid tablets or syrups after they have one of these spicy meals. There are other foods that can bring on an episode of heartburn as well. Citrus fruits, some meats and rich creamy desserts are just some of the foods that can bring on an episode of heartburn. People can avoid these foods, or they can take the antacids after eating these foods and feeling some pain. People can also avoid heartburn by eating several hours before bed time. Heartburn often strikes people when they sleep soon after a large meal.

What Medications Have Been Developed To Treat Heartburn?

Medical researchers constantly develop and test new medications and in the recent past these experts have developed medications to treat heartburn. One of the great new medications for treating heartburn is called Prilosec. This is a type of drug known as a proton pump inhibitor. This medication was originally sold only with a prescription, but it is now available over-the-counter. This drug is usually taken for two weeks to treat heartburn. Many of the millions of people who have suffered from heartburn have found relief by using Prilosec.

This medication works by minimizing the acid in the stomach to keep it from moving into the esophagus. The stomach is strong enough to handle the acid, but the esophagus is not. When the acid moves from the stomach to the esophagus, the burning sensation of heartburn occurs. Other symptoms such as nausea and abdominal pain might also occur as a result of heartburn. People who suffer the effects of heartburn should consult their doctor and start taking Prilosec to rid their bodies of the effects of heartburn. Although this medication is fairly recent, it has been most successful. Most people who try this medication find the perfect way to treat heartburn.

Treats Frequent Heartburn!

Can Using Vinegar Be A Cure for Heartburn?

Can Using Vinegar Be A Cure for Heartburn?

Heartburn is a condition of the stomach where the sphincter has a hard time closing thus the stomach acids reflux into the esophagus. This is a painful and uncomfortable condition that may recur and is often triggered by the food we eat and stress. There are many medications and drugs used to treat and control heartburn but some people would like to use organic or natural means to do so.

Many claims have been made to treat or alleviate heartburn with some organic substances or mixtures. Others have even said that it is just a matter of mind over mater and conquering stress to make your heartburn leave. Over the counter medications and drugs can also help in heartburn relief.

What Kind of Vinegar Can I Use for Heartburn?

There are many suggestions to clear up heartburn. One of these is to take vinegar for heartburn, especially apple cider vinegar. The lower esophageal sphincter is the controller of food that comes into the stomach. It opens when it detects food in the mouth; it closes when there is no food. There are instances when we change our position or the lower esophageal sphincter is lead to believe that there is food in the esophagus it may open. This leads to the entry of acids into the esophagus resulting in heartburn

Vinegar for heartburn can make the lower esophageal sphincter close more tightly because it can sense the acidity of the food we take in such as the vinegar thus it closes the sphincter when the vinegar passes it downwards to the stomach. You can take vinegar for heartburn in a diluted form by mixing it with water.

Some researchers have refuted the idea the vinegar for heartburn is beneficial to the individual suffering from heartburn. They say that the consumption of undiluted vinegar during a heartburn episode or occurrence can do damage to your esophagus because it is as acidic as the stomach acids that are damaging your esophagus. They do stress the point that this is for undiluted vinegar for heartburn relief. They do not explain anything about diluted vinegar for heartburn relief.

Some other people do stress that apple cider vinegar for heartburn relief needs to be diluted. It has been suggested that one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with approximately 250 milliliters of water can be drank slowly to help ease the pain of heartburn. Others have also said that daily intake of apple cider vinegar for heartburn treatment can be advantageous.

What Causes Heartburn And How To Beat It.

Heartburn is a condition where a pain caused by the reflux of stomach acids damages the esophagus. The pain of heartburn is unlike any other pain because it can start at the base of the breast bone and radiate up to the jaws of a person. Many people would like to know what causes heartburn and what to do to find relief from it.

Causes of Heartburn

What causes heartburn can be answered by many things and most of it is our food intake. Caffeine is one of the substances that cause heartburn. What causes heartburn when we ingest caffeine is the relaxant result of caffeine on the body. This causes the lower esophageal sphincter to relax thus letting some stomach acids escape into our esophagus.

The same concept can be blamed on chocolate, tomatoes and alcohol as these can also relax the lower esophageal sphincter and cause acids to damage our esophagus. As the lower esophageal sphincter relaxes its tightness, acids will damage our esophagus resulting in a painful condition. Alcohol also increases the production of stomach acids making the acids more and strong enough to make it out of the sphincter.

What causes heartburn can be some fried and fatty foods. These foods are slow to digest and may cause the stomach to empty longer resulting in a full stomach that gives pressure to weakened lower esophageal sphincter. This makes the sphincter weak and unable to close properly thus letting some stomach acids escape into the esophagus.

Tobacco products are also some of what causes heartburn in people. These tobacco products relax the lower esophageal sphincter and the same as with alcohol and tomatoes and others, acids escape into the esophagus causing pain and damage to it.

Eating too much and having a full stomach can also cause heartburn. What causes heartburn when you have a full stomach is the pressure that is put on the lower esophageal sphincter that makes it unable to hold onto the closed sphincter. The pressure could build up and some acid could escape.

Lying down just a few minutes or hours before bedtime can cause horizontal pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter. This pressure will sometimes force food and stomach acids into the esophagus causing heartburn. The same goes to tight restrictive clothing that may put pressure on the stomach and squeeze it too much forcing food out of it.

What causes heartburn can be controlled since most of them are foods which we can avoid and positions that we can remember not to do after eating a meal. Although some researcher have also stated that stress can cause heartburn.

Persons who suffer from heartburn should understand there are certain foods that cause acid reflux to be worse than other foods. Knowing which foods affect the sufferer the most is just as important as knowing which foods should be avoided. While some foods effect different people in different ways, there are few smart choices that can be made to stave off acid reflux, or heartburn as it is most commonly called.

Since acid reflux is partially caused by the amount of acid in the stomach, putting acidic foods in the stomach, or foods that promote the production of more acid, should be avoided. Some may be considered old wives tales and now understood to be myths, while other may be foods that cause acid reflux with which most people may not identify. While many may associate having acid indigestion after eating spaghetti with sauce, they may not believe the same can happen with macaroni and cheese.

The belief that drinking milk is good for heartburn but in reality milk is one of the foods that cause acid reflux. While it may provide a temporary coating to the esophagus it also fuels the production of acid in the stomach, allow more to possibly slip through the lower esophagus sphincter, increasing the uncomfortable feeling of heartburn. It is not only milk, many dairy products including cottage cheese and even ice cream can spark an increase in the acid secretion.

Why Meat And Vegetables Can Also Cause Heartburn Trouble?

Ground beef, marbled steaks as well as chicken nuggets and Buffalo wings can prove disastrous to someone affected by the foods that cause acid reflux. Many of the spices used in preparing many foods will also cause acid indigestion, but eating too much of anything can prompt acid reflux. French fries and raw onions are foods that cause acid reflux and surprisingly so are mashed potatoes. The extra starch can cause more acid to be produced in the stomach.

Citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruit and lemons are also listed as foods that cause acid reflux, along with cranberries and strawberries. Additionally, if they are mixed with alcohol beverages, it creates a double-sided problem, as both are foods that cause acid reflux. Coffee and tea are both on the do not drink list for acid reflux, and it makes no difference if it caffeinated or decaf.

However, since every person may be different it is important to keep a diary of foods consumed that cause reflux and avoid them at all costs.

Did you know that you can stop acid reflux immediately and permanently with out using any drugs? What if someone told you that fats, coffee, alcohol, spices and even smoking are not triggers for acid reflux and it had all been a big mistake? What if someone provided evidence that the small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) was responsible for the acid reflux and the huge increase in the rate of esophageal cancer? What if someone told you that GERD was not really a disease so much as our bodies way of coping with a diet we did not evolve with? Heartburn Cured makes a strong argument that consuming certain carbohydrates is the root cause and real trigger for acid reflux and the resulting complications like Barrett’s and esophageal cancer. This breakthrough diet book is written by a microbiologist who suffered from chronic heartburn for 20 years before getting fed up with uninformed GI medical doctors prescribing drugs that either did not work or were associated with serious side effects and health problems like pneumonia and osteoporosis. In Heartburn Cured, the author explains the role of intestinal microorganisms in digestion and provides clear and easy to understand evidence that carbohydrate malabsorption leads to SIBO and resulting gas that drives acid reflux (and IBS symptoms as well). Heartburn Cured delivers a death blow to heartburn and GERD by harnessing the glycemic index to free you from GERD and heartburn as well as the PPIs, H2 blockers and even antacids.

Can Grated Apple Be An Acid Reflux Cure?

Drinkable Apple Cider Vinegar
Try this at home, works for heartburn (for sure), allergies, sinus infections, acne, high cholesterol, flu, chronic fatigue, candida, acid reflux, sore throats, contact dermatitis, arthritis, and gout 2 tsp/ 2Tblspoons stevia to your sweetness liking -sorry about the mixup on that.

Many Use Grated Apple For Acid Reflux Relief

Through the ages, people have suffered from acid indigestion and have search for a way to extinguish the fire that was burning in their stomach. Doctors, herbalists and naturalists have spent a considerable amount of time finding a cure for heartburn, as it is often called, and have developed numerous drugs and natural cures. Everything from apple cider vinegar to grated apple for acid reflux relief has been tried and some of the natural cures seem to work better than the expensive prescriptions.

Many years ago the saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away did not necessarily mean indigestion, but it has been found the apple cider vinegar can help the flow of stomach acid and that eating a raw grated apple for acid reflux not only alleviates the pain of indigestion, is has other benefits as well. It can also be used in baking products in place of extra sugar and while it has some natural acid, at a pH level of about 2.4 apple cider vinegar is far less acidic than hydrochloric acid, or stomach acid, with a pH factor of zero.

A person with dry hair does not necessarily use a shampoo with a lot of oil in it, rather they would use a shampoo formulated to prompt the scalp to produce more oil The same theory is used in using grated apple for acid reflux. The stomach, after eating, begins to pump acid and sometimes may not know when to quit. By drinking apple cider vinegar, or eating high acid grated apples, the stomach thinks it has enough acid to do the job and stops producing it, reducing the risk of acid being able to work its way back into the esophagus.

How Can I Reduce the Production of Stomach Acid?

To better understand acid reflux, think about a water balloon sealed tightly at both ends. No matter where in the center or hold hard it is squeezed, the water does not come out. However, if there is a pin hole on one end of the balloon and then squeeze, water will squirt out of the pin hole. The lower esophagus sphincter, at the point where the stomach and esophagus meets, is supposed to hold the top of the stomach tightly shut. If it fails, the acid in the stomach is allowed to travel in to esophagus and irritate the lining. A diet including grated apple for acid reflux relief can help reduce the amount of acid available for entering the esophagus.

Some believe that a grated apple for acid reflux should be peeled while others leave the peel on, but a common consensus is that a peeled granny smith apple tastes better and is easier to digest than other apples.

Apple Cider Vinegar Cure Acid Reflux / Heartburn GERD
An energy boosting way to drink ACV, without it taking your breath away, is to mix about 2 teaspoons with an equal amount of raw honey in a small glass of warm water. Stir to dissolve the honey and drink one to three times a day. You can sip on this drink during a meal for extra digestive power, or you can drink this ahead of a meal. Refrain from drinking to much water or any other beverage during your meal, and for up to an hour afterward. Give your gastric stomach juices enough time to fully break down the food you just ate, on its own, without weakening their effects with added liquids. Why use apple cider vinegar? Because, when it is used medicinally it helps the body rid itself of harmful toxins, has wonderful disinfecting properties as a natural bad germ fighter, and is a very biodegradable substance that does not pollute the environment. With regular and continued use, this wonderful liquid helps restore and balance the body´s pH, taking it from acidic to neutral in a short amount of time. Normally, it would be hard to believe that such an acidic substance could normalize, or lower our pH so easily. As far as I know, this only applies to vinegar, as our digestive system will naturally convert it to an alkaline based substance. An acidic internal system is directly caused from eating excessive amounts of meat, grains, and sugar by eating and drinking too many processed foods and beverages. This will provide an invitation, internally, for unwanted illness or disease

What is the Link between Zocor and Heartburn Risks?

News Update: FDA Warns Merck´s 80mg Zocor May Increase Risk of Muscle Injury
Dow Jones reported Friday that the Food and Drug Administration warned about the increased risk of muscle injury for those taking an 80-milligram dose of Merck & Co.´s (NYSE:MRK) Zocor, generically known as Simvastatin. Muscle injury is a known side effect for statins, but the FDA said its warning highlights increased risks for 80-milligram Zocor, in particular for a serious form of injury that can lead to severe kidney damage, kidney failure and even death. ”Review of simvastatin is part of an ongoing FDA effort to evaluate the risk of statin-associated muscle injury and to provide that information to the public as it becomes available,” said FDA official Eric Colman.

Zocor is the commercial name for the medication simvastatin, which is used to help bring down high cholesterol levels in some patients. This drug treatment option is generally used in tandem with a revised diet that will also help reduce cholesterol levels and keep the heart and cardiovascular system healthy. However, like any medication that you take, this one does come with some side effects, and in the case of Zocor, heartburn is one of the side effects that you will need to be concerned about.

Zocor is a member of a family of medications that are known as 3-hydroxy-3 methylgluteryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors, also known as HMG-CoA’ s. This mouthful of words refers to medications that work by blocking one of the enzymes in the body that is necessary for the production of cholesterol. The result is lower cholesterol levels, which can reduce the risk of heart attack and heart disease in many people. Currently, this medication is only available with your doctor’ s prescription, which means that your doctor will be monitoring any side effects that you experience with Zocor, like heartburn.

Zocor and Heartburn Symptoms

Some patients with high cholesterol are able to avoid taking a medication like Zocor by adjusting their diet to one that is low in sugars, fats and cholesterol. Since many of these foods can be heartburn culprits, a diet that is good for your heart may also prevent heartburn without Zocor or other cholesterol lowering medicines. However, dietary changes are not sufficient for every patient, and if your cholesterol does not come down with diet alone, a medication like Zocor may indeed be prescribed. Bear in mind that medicine for cholesterol does not ever take the place of a healthy diet and daily exercise, but should be used in combination with these practices for maximum benefit.

If you find that Zocor and heartburn seem to coincide for you, there are things that you can do to treat your heartburn aside from stopping this important medication. But before you try to treat your heartburn on your own, you should talk to your doctor about which remedies will work the best. While you may experience heartburn with Zocor, many of the heartburn medications may interact with this particular medicine. Your doctor can advise you on the best ways to treat your heartburn in this situation.

While it might be important to lower your cholesterol using a medication like Zocor, heartburn and other side effects from this medication will need to be addressed and treated as well. Keep in mind that heartburn from Zocor is definitely the lesser of two evils, since heartburn is rarely a serious condition, and high cholesterol can be damaging to your health in the form of heart attack and heart disease risk. Treat the heartburn and lower your cholesterol for maximum health benefit.

Are There Symptoms And Solutions for Infant Acid Reflux?

Infant Medical Care : Acid Reflux Disease in Infants
Almost all infants will spit up from time to time, and this reaction should be distinguished from gastroesophageal reflux disease. Discover the possible benefits of reflux in babies with help from a pediatrician in this free video on infant medical conditions andhealth care. Expert: Dr. David Hill Contact: www.capefearpediatrics.com Bio: Dr. David Hill has more than 14 years of experience as a practicing pediatrician and is qualified with infants through teenagers. Filmmaker: Reel Media LLC Series Description: Medical care for infants is of the utmost importance, so it´s necessary for parents to know how and when to seek proper medical care for their babies´ health issues. Learn how to recognize and treat medical problems in this free video series on infant health.

Your newborn spits up, just like every other baby, but it’ s constant. It doesn t seem to stop. This could be a symptom of infant acid reflux, or gastroesophageal reflux. However, the problem is more common than you think. In fact, more than half of all babies suffer from infant acid reflux for the first months of its life, so says the National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse. Most of the time, infant acid reflux presents itself after feeding, but it can also happen after your child coughs, cries or strains. It should be noted, too, that although your baby may suffer from acid reflux, most babies who do are very happy and healthy.

Infant acid reflux will usually dissipate after a year to a year and half, depending on the baby. There are certain steps you can take to assist in lessening the symptoms and these include feeding smaller amounts, feeding more often, changing the baby’ s position during feeding, halting feedings in order to burp, as well as giving the baby certain medications or any other techniques as described by your doctor.

Baby Heartburn Symptoms

If you’ re not sure if your baby has acid reflux, there are certain things you want to keep an eye out for. Spitting up, or throwing up, is the classic symptom of infant acid reflux. Your baby may also appear irritable during feedings and he or she might also exhibit signs of an inability to eat. If these symptoms do present themselves, make sure you get the advice of your doctor before you take any steps to combat the problem. Baby’ s are unpredictable and the symptoms you’ re seeing may just be a phase your child will grow out of. If your baby does indeed have infant acid reflux, it then becomes necessary to find the cause of the problem.

What Causes Infant Heartburn?

Infant acid reflux is primarily caused by a relaxing of the muscle between the esophagus and the stomach. This muscle is designed to only open when you swallow. The other times, this muscle is tightly closed to prevent the contents of the stomach from entering the esophagus. However, in babies, this muscle is still undeveloped and thus may relax, allowing the stomach contents to flow into the esophagus and out of your baby’ s mouth. Occasionally, air bubbles in the esophagus can push the liquid out of your baby’ s mouth. And, other times, your baby may just drink something too fast.

As said before, you must seek medical advice if the symptoms of infant acid reflux present themselves. You should also seek medical advice if your baby isn’ t gaining weight, if the spit up is heavy or forceful, if your baby resists feedings or seems hungry between feedings, and you should definitely seek advice if your baby shows signs of fever, diarrhea or has difficulty breathing.

Acid Reflux and Heartburn, are they the Same?

3 Natural Treamtnets for Acid Reflux

How Can I Determine If Wine Causes Acid Reflux?

How Can I Determine If Wine Causes Acid Reflux?

There are two schools of thought on how wine assists acid reflux. Those who suffer indigestion after drinking it, and those who do not. For the serious wine connoisseur, giving up wine may be out of the question but the suffering from imbibing may be too great to continue. By keeping a diary of foods they eat along with the type and quantity of wine they drink, they may be able to narrow down the true cause of their acid reflux.

Acid reflux is a condition in which stomach acid refluxes into the esophagus through the lower esophagus sphincter, the muscle located at the point where the esophagus enters the stomach. There are several reasons why this muscle may not be performing up to par and allowing acid to pass through, but the bottom line is that when it does, the irritation to the esophagus lining can be extremely painful Additionally, permanent damage can occur over time. To find out how wine assists acid reflux, start the diary with the foods consumed and the type and amount of wine drank every day.

Tracks the days, and time of day during which acid reflux is suffered and determine what foods were eaten that day as well as the wine that was consumed. If different type of food are eaten every day with the same type of wine and the person suffers acid reflux every day, there is a good chance wine assists acid reflux and should be eliminated from the diet.

However, if the acid reflux diary shows days with no suffering when wine was used, it is likely the problem was caused by a specific food or a combination of the wine and one or two food items. By researching the diary it can be narrowed down and the food that is causing the acid reflux can be eliminated. It is also possible there will be a need to not drink wine with that food item that may help when the wine assists acid reflux.

Using the same argument of using apple cider vinegar for indigestion, some will argue that wine assists acid reflux by helping reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach. The argument is that when wine is introduced, the acid in the wine triggers the stomach to stop producing its own acid, reducing the chance of acid reflux from occurring. Others however, will maintain that adding alcohol on top of stomach acid will make the situation worse.

Why You Can Use Natural Remedies For Acid Reflux Instead of Drugs?

Finding a remedy for acid reflex is really a three-step process of finding the cause of the acid reflux, a means of preventing or at least minimizing the effects and treating it when it does show up. For prevention and treatment there are many natural remedies for acid reflux that help with both. While the exact cause of heartburn remains under study, there are certain foods as well as emotions that can trigger an attack.

Persons who suddenly begin suffering from acid reflux should keep a diary of everything they eat as well as when they have heartburn, including day and time and over time will be able to use this log to determine if any food or drink was the cause, or did emotions such as anger or stress serve as the trigger. Sometimes the natural remedies for acid reflux, once the direct cause can be isolated the situation, or the specific food can be eliminated, is to abstain from those situations when possible as well as avoid the trigger foods.

However, avoiding all the foods that can trigger acid reflux may be difficult enough, but avoiding the emotional situations may be impossible. For those who do not like to use drugs, prescription or over the counter, there are several natural remedies for acid reflux to try.

What Are Some Natural Products To Prevent Heartburn?

Many herbalists point to ginger as a top contender in the fight against acid reflux, and putting fresh ground ginger on the food can help prevent acid reflux. As one of the natural remedies for acid reflux, herbalists suggest a 50mg capsule with a full glass of water after the meal as a deterrent to indigestion.

Other possible natural remedies for acid reflux is digestive enzymes. Papaya is sold in a chewable capsule and when taken with a gloss of water after a meal it can promote digestion and help get the food through the stomach quicker, reducing the chance of acid reflux. It should be noted that neither ginger nor papaya have been medically proven to help acid reflux sufferers, but many have tried at and are convinced of its benefit.

Water is considered one of the most natural remedies for acid reflux and more water that is drunk, the less chance there is for acid reflux. Water helps dilute any excess acid while helping to cleanse toxins from the system. Additionally, green tea has shown to help digestion as well as reduce the seriousness of acid reflux episodes.

What is Acid Reflux?

What Is Acid Reflux

People suffering regular episodes of heartburn know what is acid reflux and depending on the severity of the suffering, know it is no fun to have. Essentially, gastroesophageal reflux disease, GERD, is when liquids in the stomach are pushed back into the esophagus and the stomach acid causes irritation to the esophageal lining. Most commonly referred to as heartburn, what is acid reflux is sometimes mistaken for a heart attack.

Where the esophagus is connected to the stomach, the lower esophagus sphincter is supposed to restrict traffic one way. Occasionally, acid in the stomach will work its way back into the esophagus and the will irritate its sensitive lining. This can cause a burning sensation and, depending on how much acid has been refluxed out of the stomach, can cause severe burning in the chest, as well as other symptoms that can be confused with a heart attack.

What is acid reflux is typically worse when lying down as the acid is allowed to remain in the esophagus longer. It is possible that the reflux occurs numerous times throughout the day, but while standing, gravity will help it find its way back into the stomach. Additionally, natural antacids in saliva will counteract the acid and help wash it back into the stomach.

Why Hiatal Hernia May Contribute To Reflux?

In some persons suffering GERD, also have a hiatal hernia, although not all will have this problem. The stomach is attached to the esophagus and is separated from the upper abdomen by the diaphragm. With a hiatal hernia, the portion of the stomach to which the esophagus is attached can be pushed upwards through the diaphragm. This also results in reflux of acid from the stomach, resulting in a several burning sensation. For those with this condition, what is acid reflux is sometimes exacerbated by the hernia.

Most reflux actions during the day occur soon after eating and being upright helps keep everything in the stomach where it is supposed to be. However, overeating can also contribute to what is acid reflux. Think of the stomach as a tube of toothpaste with the lid loose. Squeezing the tube in the center will result in the paste exiting the tube through the path of least resistance, in this case the loose lid.

The loose lid is representative of a weakened lower esophagus sphincter allowing acid to reflux into the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms of what is acid reflux.

Most acid reflux infant pillows are about two-feet square and are angled at about 30 percent to keep the top half of the infant elevated. A wide strap secures the infant to the pillow, preventing them from sliding down or rolling off the side.

Just like adults, if an infant lies down flat to sleep following a meal, the acid in their stomach has the chance to reflux back into the esophagus and cause a sever burning sensation in the esophagus. Changing a babies habits can stop acid reflux

If the pediatrician believes the infant is suffering from acid reflux, they may recommend smaller meals eaten more frequently to prevent the stomach from becoming over filled. Placing them on acid reflux infant pillows can also allow gravity to do its work of keeping the food in the stomach and not allowing it to climb back into the esophagus.

Many parents will add a pillow under the child’ s back to keep it raised. However, if the infant is too small to rest on a pillow, in the absence of acid reflux infant pillows a regular pillow can be placed under the crib sheet or even the mattress to have the infant sleeping at an angle with its head raised above the stomach. Another quick method is to raise the head of the bed to a slight angle for the infant to be sleeping down hill.

This happens because the liquid that is regurgitated usually contains acid and pepsin that are produced by the stomach, and this is what really causes the problems. Many people suffer when the acid flows out of the stomach and into the esophagus.

The esophagus cannot cope when this acid flows into it. When the acid is in the esophagus, there is a burning sensation near the sternum which is very uncomfortable. However, since it is not advisable to take antacids for a long time, parents of children with acid reflux should make it a point not to give their kids antacids all the time.

According to experts, antacids can only be taken at a maximum of 8 consecutive weeks. Prolonged use of antacids and other forms of medications for acid reflux in children could result to some harmful side effects. Switching from one acid reflux medication to another from time to time will not really help. Studies show that since these different types medications target the same type of disease, their effect on the patient is almost similar.

Once the body becomes immune to these types of medications, these medications will no longer have the desired effect on the body. Note that higher doses of any types of substances could lead to different types of side effects.

Can Vinegar Be A Cure for Acid Reflux?

An usual as it may sound, there are many signs that a vinegar cure for acid reflux works, provided the right type of vinegar is used. As many believe, vinegar is an acid and the widely used apple cider vinegar is five percent acetic acid. To put it in perspective, in the old days of film photography one of the chemicals used in developing black and white film was a 28 percent strength of acetic acid.

Getting past the smell and taste of apple cider vinegar may a tough sell for some, and drinking it straight out of the bottle will not help. As a vinegar cure for acid reflux it should only be taken with a bicarbonate, such as baking soda. Using two tablespoons or apple cider vinegar and no more than a half teaspoon of baking soda will keep it from burning the tongue on the way down.

Essentially, it is a similar mixture to the bicarbonate that has been used for years to fight stomach acid. It has been proven over many years to settle stomachs and relieve the burning caused by acid reflux. Additionally, some physicians recommend eating slices of apple throughout the day to help reduce the occurrence of stomach acid, and most patients agree the apple slices taste better than the vinegar cure for acid reflux.

Why does Adding Acid To Acid Seems Counterproductive?

Many may argue that using a vinegar cure for acid reflux is adding fuel to the fire, but it makes sense if the total amount of acid in the body is understood. Following a meal of fatty or spicy foods the body begins to churn out the acid to help start the digestive process. Adding a couple of tablespoons of five percent acetic acid, apple cider vinegar, to a glass of water and drinking it, will let the stomach know that help is on the way and the stomach can quit producing the hydrochloric acids, making the vinegar cure for acid reflux more effective.

When attempting to use a vinegar cure for acid reflux insure a quality vinegar is used and it is not a 100 percent pure cider vinegar. The label should indicate it is no more than five percent acetic acid and the white is easier to swallow. Mixing it with the baking soda should be done in an open jar or glass, before adding it to water because once the two mix, there will be effervescence and if the container is too full there is the risk of overflow.

Sugar acid reflux is also caused when the body is not able to use up the sugar within and thus this is converted into cholesterol so that the level of sugar in the blood gets reduced. Among the many foods that cause acid reflux is chocolate as well as those foods with high fat content. To control sugar acid reflux, you would need to eliminate high fat content as well as high caloric foods such as chocolates, which will help in eliminating the symptoms of acid reflux.

Sugar acid reflux can result in a very painful condition and drinking soft drinks can only increase your chances for contracting acid reflux. Your consumption of Coca Cola and Pepsi would compound the problem as the carbonation will irritate the stomach, which it tries to cure by adding antacid from the blood that in turn will lead to low calcium, which is then replenished from the bones.

All these things can cause acid reflux and the picture is worsened when you take into account the sugar contained in these soft drinks. This sugar enters into the bloodstream, where in excessive quantities it causes the pancreas to work overtime, which then pumps out insulin thus lowering the testosterone in the bloodstream. This is a pretty grim picture that should suffice to warn you about how bad sugar acid reflux can get.

Thus, avoiding chocolates is a good way of avoiding sugar acid reflux and so too is avoiding soft drinks as well as tea, coffee and sodas, which can singly as well as in combination relax the esophageal sphincter, while exercising will do you no end of good. And, if you prefer meditation instead, it can also work as a good substitute.

In any case, avoiding artificial sweeteners, and chocolates is certainly recommended in case you don’t want to suffer sugar acid reflux.

Some people suffer acid reflux symptoms because they eat spicy food or very rich foods. The symptoms appear soon after eating the meal, and these symptoms disappear soon. These symptoms can often be alleviated with the consumption of some antacids which are readily available in the local pharmacy. Many people try to avoid foods that brought any uncomfortable symptoms, and they do not have to worry about these symptoms often. Other people feel acid reflux symptoms on a regular basis, and these people may have a more serious condition. The physician will probably recommend a series of tests for those who suffer from acid reflux symptoms on a more regular basis.

Acid Reflux Symptoms Could Indicate A Serious Condition

Acid reflux symptoms could be the result of spicy food, but these symptoms could also be the signs of a serious condition. This condition could be very serious if left untreated. The symptoms often include heartburn or a burning sensation in the chest. The symptoms are also a regurgitation action and sometimes nausea. The symptoms are the result of acid regurgitating from the stomach into the esophagus. The stomach is made to sustain the effects of this acid, but the esophagus is not. The esophagus feels like it is burning when the acid touches the lining of this organ.

Are You Ready For Acid Reflux Surgery?

Acid reflux disease can greatly disrupt the quality of your life, especially keeping you awake at nights. But should you consider acid reflux surgery? Yes, there is a kind of surgery for acid reflux disease, but it usually considered a last resort, when all other medications and treatments have failed. Any time your body is opened up, you risk getting an internal infection, or other complications. Make this choice carefully with your doctor or internist. Sometimes acid reflux surgery is the only option for those sufferers who have difficulty taking medication, or if their esophagus has been too damaged for any medication to help.

Can You Handle The Truth about Acid Reflux Surgery?

You be evaluated for surgery before you go under the knife. Believe it or not, your doctors don t really want to risk you getting any worse than you already are. You will have to undergo some tests to determine if you can be helped by acid reflux surgery. These will often include tests to look at your pH (acid) levels, a barium x-ray (most likely you will just have to swallow the barium sulfate instead of having to take it as an enema, which is painful), and an endoscopy. These are common tests, but usually have to be performed in a hospital. You will often have to follow a strict diet for a day or so before the test. Be sure to follow it. You really don t want to have to take these tests a second time.

Perhaps all of your tests come back indicating that you can, indeed, be helped by acid reflux surgery. The name of your surgery is called fundoplication, although you probably won’t be having any fun during the surgery, as you ll be completely knocked out. What the surgeon will do is take the top part of your stomach (called the fundus), wrap it around the bottom of your esophagus and also make sure your stomach and firmly set below your diaphragm.

How does this help? This acid reflux surgery hopes to make your stomach smaller to reduce the acid made. It s the acid that is making your condition. This acid reflux surgery hopes also to assist the stomach in keeping what goes into it to stay into it, instead of go back up the esophagus.

What is the Effectiveness of Acid Reflux Surgery?

Many patients are significantly helped by acid reflux surgery and think that it was worth it. The Mayo Clinic reports that about ninety percent of those having the surgery can go home the next day. Follow up studies of those who had acid reflux sugery, ninety-six percent say they are still cured one year later.

You May Need To Take Acid Reflux Medicine When All Else Fails

When All Else Fails You May Need To Take Acid Reflux Medicine

Each individual would need to choose the best method of treating his or her acid reflux condition since it is something that is a very personal condition thing. To begin with, you need to be absolutely sure that your condition is indeed acid reflux and not something else, since there are a number of other conditions that can masquerade as acid reflux, which in many cases may warrant even more severe treatment methods. Acid reflux medicines are one of the ways in which to treat the problem, the other being changing one s lifestyle.

Antacids Help Lower Acid Levels

Antacids are acid reflux medicines that are very effective in treating the condition since they are able to reduce the quantum of acid that is found in the stomach. As the level of acid in the stomach gets reduced it helps in lessening the incidence of acid reflux. However, because antacids are necessary for the human body to digest food, lowering its volume within the body through use of acid reflux medicine will only cause harm to the patient, and it will also lessen the ability of the body to properly digest food.

It is thus much more advisable to change one s lifestyle rather than take recourse to acid reflux medicines, since in this manner, you would also experience a greater impact on acid reflux as compared to using acid reflux medicines. Diet no doubt does contribute to acid reflux; however, besides using acid reflux medicines, you can still get relief from acid reflux by sleeping with your head elevated so that the bile does not rise up into your throat.

You should first consult your doctor about whether or not to take acid reflux medicine, since there are alternative routes to explore, which the doctor would be able to advise you about. In case these alternatives fail to provide you relief, then you may be forced to take acid reflux medicines and you may need to shop for over the counter drugs that may be able to provide relief. If your condition were not too severe, then such a course of action would be enough.

However, if your condition warrants stronger acid reflux medicine, your doctor may advise medications such as histamine-2 blockers of which Pepcid and Zantac are most often used. Otherwise, you may need to take proton-pump inhibitors such as Prevacid and Prilosec. The bottom line is that when lifestyle changes are found to be ineffective, use must be made of acid reflux medicines that will help free the patient of persistent symptoms.

All About Antidepressants That Predispose With Acid Reflux Disease

All About Antidepressants That Predispose With Acid Reflux Disease

Antidepressants are the miracle drugs of the last twenty years. They have saved and brought back countless lives to those with major depression who saw life as hopeless. Antidepressants, like any other medication, can have side effects. Some of these are beneficial, perhaps giving regular sleep to the insomniac. But some are not beneficial, as antidepressants that predispose with acid reflux disease. That means you can begin antidepressants without having acid reflux, and then get acid reflux.

Tricyclic Antidepressants

There are many kinds of antidepressants, because one antidepressant does not work for everyone. I happen to be the poster child for Prozac, but my own mother can t touch the stuff as it intensifies her depression. The priority is keep taking the antidepressant if it helps you manage your depression. This is life saving medicine. Acid reflux is a small price to pay for getting to live. Tell your doctor and follow his or her advice.

Tricyclic antidepressants that predispose with acid reflux side effects. They came out in the 1950 s and help slow down and relax your muscles, including your stomach muscles keeping the stomach acid in place. Generic names for tricyclic antidepressants that predispose with acid reflux effects are imipramine, desipramine, trimipramine, any other antidepressant with the pramine or triptaline suffix, doxepin and dothieapin hydrochloride.

What Can I Do?

There are many things you can do to lessen the discomfort, should you need to take antidepressants that predispose with acid reflux symptoms. You can drink more water, cut down or cut out smoking and alcoholic beverages, eat a well-balanced and healthy diet, and sit up for at least a half hour after eating or drinking something to give it a chance to settle into your body. You can try eating probiotics-laden yogurt (which is easily available) or take probiotics supplements. You can also buy acid reflux pillows that prevent you from lying completely flat as you sleep and let the stomach acid creep up your throat.

Do you get nauseated when under pressure? Stress can get the stomach acid flowing. You need to learn how to better handle stress. You can do that through continuing to take your antidepressants, meditation, autosuggestion, yoga, writing or learning to laugh at yourself. Your doctor or therapist can help you select the best stress management system for you. There is always hope. And if you take antidepressants that predispose with acid reflux disease and don t have acid reflux disease, don t worry about it greatly. You might not get acid reflux disease.

Sleep Apnea And Acid Reflux Trouble Many People

Sleep apnea and acid reflux are two problems that bother many people. Although sleep apnea and acid reflux are not necessarily serious conditions, these both could be very serious and should be discussed with a medical professional. There are some solutions for sleep apnea and acid reflux that will make life more comfortable for those affected by both conditions. Sleep apnea and acid reflux are similar in that each condition can disrupt sleep patterns. This disruption caused by sleep apnea and acid reflux can affect the performance and enjoyment of people during their daily life.

Sleep apnea and acid reflux are related in some ways, and the strategies for eliminating sleep apnea and acid reflux are also related. A savvy person affected by both of these conditions might be able to eliminate both at the same time. The results could be a more productive and comfortable life. Sleep apnea is a breathing problem during sleep. When a sleeping person involuntarily stops breathing, this person suffers from sleep apnea. A person suffering from acid reflux has a condition where acid from the stomach enters the esophagus creating a burning sensation and nausea.

Many People Suffer From Both Sleep Apnea And Acid Reflux

Many people with acid reflux suffer from the condition when they try to sleep and sleep apnea as indicted by the name is a sleep disturbance. Medical researchers have spent some time trying to find cures for these conditions because so many people are affected by them. Some of the research studies have shown a connection between sleep apnea and acid reflux. The studies have tried to examine the link between the two conditions. The studies have tried to determine if one condition triggers the other. The studies have also tried to determine if one condition is the cause of both conditions.

Some of the research has suggested that treating acid reflux would provide relief for sleep apnea as well. Some of the research has also shown that severe acid reflux will exacerbate the sleep apnea. Each condition could have serious repercussions if not treated properly. The research information shows that doctors treating people with sleep apnea and acid reflux should probably view the later condition as the focus of the initial treatment. The patient might find relief from both problems if the acid reflux is controlled. The research on sleep apnea and acid reflux has not necessarily provided any definite information on the connection between the two diseases, but the research continues in order to bring relief to people.

Acid Reflux Is Also Called Heartburn

Some people would complain that they have heartburn but might not know that this is also called acid reflux. Many people might hear advertisements and information about acid reflux, and they would not realize that this information would help them with their heartburn. The term acid reflux is used more frequently by medical professionals when discussing this common problem. Many people suffer from acid reflux from time to time, but others suffer constantly from this condition. Those people who suffer from acid reflux more often should definitely bring this to the attention of their physician.

Sometimes people panic when they suffer from acid reflux because they fear that they are having a heart attack. Acid reflux is a burning sensation or a painful feeling in the center of the chest in the vicinity of the heart. The pain can be very intense for some people until they find some relief. This condition is caused by acid coming from the stomach into the esophagus. The acid from the stomach enters the lower end of the esophagus. The stomach is designed to cope with the acid, but the esophagus is not designed to cope with the acid.

Acid Reflux Can Be Cured

Many people suffer the effects of acid reflux periodically, and these people can easily find some medications at the local drugstore to minimize the pain from the condition. Those people who suffer often from this condition could have a serious problem that should be treated by expert medical professionals. These people will probably be advised to undergo some medical tests to determine the extent of the problem. There are specialized tests that can clearly define the problem for most people. Once the doctor has complete information on the state of the esophagus and stomach, the doctor can prescribe treatment to avoid the distressing effects of this condition.

Some people will eliminate this problem by changing their diet. Sometimes acid reflux is caused by very spicy foods or rich creamy foods. Eliminating these from the diet might cure the condition completely. Other people will continue to take medications to reverse the effects of the acid when it enters the esophagus. There are other lifestyle changes that can provide relief from acid reflux. People can change their beds to help relieve the condition. The head of the bed should be elevated so the acid cannot easily flow into the esophagus from the stomach. Other people will have a more serious condition which might require some type of surgery for the cure.

“Stop Acid Reflux Now” Review

Hi, my name is Christian Lucas and I have been suffering from Acid Reflux for a long time. Finally, I had enough and researched different ways for me to stop having acid reflux issues. For me it was watching the foods that I eat. I love to eat lamb but I realized that every time I did, I was in for a long and painful evening. These acid reflux articles and heartburn book reviews are basically to discuss different ways to stop heartburn and pass the information onto other people.

One book that I did find was “Stop Acid Reflux Now!” I read the content on the website and decided to give the book a try. I figured why not, if it can save me a trip to the drug store to buy some expensive acid reflux drugs or a trip to the doctor so he can send me to get even more expensive heartburn drugs.

Boy, am I glad I did. I have been searching for some good acid reflux guides and for different heartburn cures and this one definitely helped me. In fact I found much of the book to be very informative into why I was having the problems and how to put a stop to it. But there is a difference between knowing something and actually following through with it. I was glad I made the commitment by purchasing the book “Stop Acid Reflux Now!”, and I decided to actually follow through with what they were talking about in the book.
The part that really got to me is how I should look at what I eat and to get rid of the food that gave me acid reflux. This meant that I had to alter parts of my diet. But I understood that. However, the plans they gave me to do this made it very easy to transition into eating foods that would decrease my chances of getting acid reflux, instead of increasing them. So for me it was going on a diet and watching what foods cause my acid reflux and which acid reflux foods to avoid. Do I miss certain foods? Yes I do, but I don’t miss those nasty chest pains at all!

Also, the information in the book is not old information that is just recycled. Reading the book there were a lot of new information about acid reflux that I didn’t even know about.  They also discussed some little known acid reflux symptoms. One of the most interesting things that I found out about “Stop Acid Reflux Now!” was that many doctors still don’t really know how to properly diagnose acid reflux disease. Some doctors are not that educated about some of the foods to avoid that can cause acid reflux.

I don’t want to give to much info out in this book review, but I can honestly say that you will be shocked when you find out about the different types of acid reflux foods that can cause heartburn that you would never expect. I would recommend the book “Stop Acid Reflux Now!” to someone who is not only seeking more information on heartburn, but is looking for a plan to stop the chest pains and sleepless nights.

Heartburn No More is the #1 best selling acid reflux ebook in the history of the Internet for a reason…

Jeff Martin, a certified nutritionist, health consultant and author has not just pumped out yet another “anti-reflux program” into an already over-saturated market. Jeff’s Heartburn No More can be more accurately described as a “Acid Reflux Bible.” It is quite simply one of the most comprehensive, complete, and precise guides to acid reflux freedom you will ever read. What makes it so much different than other heartburn publications on the market?

Well first of all, it’s not just a “heartburn relief” program, it’s an acid reflux cure program. Heartburn No More shows you exactly why you should fix the internal problem that’s causing your heartburn, not just masking the symptoms or getting relief and then goes on to show you exactly how to do it.

Secondly, what makes Heartburn No More different is the amount of attention that is paid to each and every element required to achieve permanent freedom from acid reflux symptoms and from digestive disorders. Heartburn No More not only thoroughly discusses the lies, myths and fallacies surrounding a very confusing subject, it is simply the most detailed book about heartburn, GERD and Gastro Intestinal health ever written.

The Heartburn No More book is quite extensive (150 pages of rock solid content) which focuses on 100% natural acid reflux treatment. That means there aren’t recommendations for harsh prescription drugs with nasty side effects. In the Heartburn No More core formula section (The 5 step system) – Nothing is held back. In this section, Jeff gives a detailed overview of each step, and then dives into the specifics in a perfect chronological order. There are also outstanding charts and checklists which make it very easy to know where you are at in the program and follow it. Because the Heartburn No More program is not a quick fix ‘fairy tale’ cure but a complete holistic solution aimed at eliminating the root cause of heartburn and digestive disorders (regardless of their severity) and ensure you will permanently be acid reflux-free, it does take work and persistence to complete. “The dictionary is the only place success comes before work” says Jeff, as he emphasizes the “no quick fix” philosophy behind the entire book.

If there is any drawback to the Heartburn No More ebook, it’s that it contains so much information, that some readers may find it a bit overwhelming. Those who are looking for a quick start type of acid reflux program, might be a bit intimated at first. The good part however, is that even these types of readers can feel confident and assured that it will be worth the effort because this will literally be the last book they ever have to buy on the subject.

Who will benefit most from Heartburn No More?

In the broadest sense, anyone and everyone who needs to cure their acid reflux and regain their natural inner balance will benefit from Heartburn No More. This ebook is honestly for everyone.
